This is my first skills and drills that I have done for my Advanced Studio class. The new skill we were asked to try out and complete was drawing with smoke. This skill was very fun and interesting to learn, because you had to find a way not to burn through the paper, not catch the paper on fire, and tilt the paper to control where the smoke was going. After practicing on a few papers, I decided it was time to draw something out and try to add smoke. I decided to draw a girl with a "stuck up" face and draw the hair out of smoke, to portray passive aggressiveness. As I placed my flame a few inches from my paper, I began to draw with my smoke. Everything was going well, until I flipped my paper over and a drop of wax came down from my candle landing right on my paper. It did not end up looking too bad, so I decided to go with the flow and continue on. I learned a lot from this skills and drills and widened my skills set. The only thing I might change and learn how to better, would be learning how to blend the drawing with the smoke better.

This is my art work from the skills and drills "Colored Pencil Skills + Drills." I have seen this thermal effect all over social media and thought it would be good to give it a try. For this skills and drills I had to use two techniques, blending and burnishing. I first had to sketch the outline of the back, then go back in and circle areas that would be highlighted. I went in with yellow for lighter areas, then went in with blue for outlines and dark shadows. I had to make sure to blend the lighter colors in with the darker, so I had to make sure I over exaggerated the yellow and orange, leaving room for blending. I am overall happy with the turnout of this and plan to use this skill in my next concentration.

Fingerprint/kiss drawings
This is my skills and drills piece for the kiss drawings. I was looking for a fourth boot camp I could do from home and I came across this one. It was by far the easiest I could do from home and something I had all the materials for. I found lipstick and grabbed a piece of paper then dove straight in. I started with doing little circles and lines to see how much control I had over the media. I am glad that I did this first, because I found that if you do not put something to protect your nose, your nose will be covered in lipstick and will ruin your art work. I took a sheet of paper and covered the part of the paper where my nose would touch. After I had my technique down and eliminated all obstacles, I faced my next issue: what am I going to draw? I chose to do an eye because I'm very comfortable with them and understand the anatomy behind them. I am happy with how this turned out, simply because I am not experienced with this medium and I feel the eye turned out decent considering the circumstance.
